Cream/white gaps are places not covered by this active district layer, such as reservations, national parks, lakes/water, or other excluded/non-district areas. Colors separate hunting-district number series for readability; always verify exact rules, species, and season dates against the official source.

Application process

For non-resident aliens, B.C. big-game access is built around FWID/credentials, a basic non-resident alien hunting licence, species licences, current synopsis seasons by WMU, and either a licensed guide outfitter or an approved Permit to Accompany. Direct LEH draw application is B.C.-resident only; guide allocation and PTA approval are the practical controlled-access paths. Small game may be hunted unaccompanied only with an unrestricted non-resident alien licence.

Open map layer
Prerequisites
  • Create or access a Fish & Wildlife ID (FWID) in WILD; a licensed guide outfitter can assist or create/apply on behalf of the hunter.
  • Hold an active non-resident alien credential and a valid non-resident alien hunting licence; hunter safety proof is needed for an unrestricted licence.
  • Basic non-resident alien licence fee is $126 plus $54 HCTF surcharge plus GST for restricted or unrestricted adult licences; youth non-resident/non-resident alien licence is $6 plus $1 HCTF.
  • Big-game non-residents/non-resident aliens must be accompanied by a licensed guide outfitter, assistant guide, or B.C. resident with a Permit to Accompany.
  • A Permit to Accompany is recreational only, covers up to two non-residents, no more than 21 consecutive hunt days, one region, specified WMUs/species, and costs $50 plus $5 HCTF; target issuance is 30 days.
  • For non-resident aliens on a PTA, the B.C. resident applicant must have an accepted family relationship; cousin is not accepted.
  • Unrestricted non-resident alien licence holders may hunt small game unaccompanied; restricted licence holders require guide/assistant guide accompaniment for small game too.
  • Species licences are required for listed big-game and nonresident bird/wolf opportunities and must be carried while hunting; online species licences are mailed only within Canada.
Jeremiah guide notes
Can a U.S. hunter apply directly for B.C. Limited Entry Hunting?

No. The consulted LEH synopsis says LEH authorizations are awarded to resident hunters and applicants need active B.C. resident and hunting credentials. A non-resident alien should work through a guide outfitter allocation/quota or an approved Permit to Accompany where lawful.

What does a non-resident alien need before hunting big game in B.C.?

FWID, non-resident alien credential, basic non-resident alien hunting licence, species licence, current WMU season from the synopsis, and accompaniment by a licensed guide outfitter/assistant guide or a B.C. resident with a Permit to Accompany.

Can I hunt small game without a guide?

Only if you hold an unrestricted non-resident or non-resident alien licence. Restricted licence holders must be accompanied by a guide outfitter or assistant guide while hunting small game too.

Can my B.C. friend take me big-game hunting?

Possibly, if they qualify for and receive a Permit to Accompany. For non-resident aliens, B.C. limits accepted relationships; cousins are not accepted. The PTA is recreational only, one region, up to 21 consecutive days, and has a 30-day target issuance time.

Where should Boondoggle map B.C. opportunities?

Use the existing `wmu` Wildlife Management Units layer for most opportunities. Add separate overlays later for LEH zones, closures, special hunting areas, guide territories and parks/no-shooting areas.
